Family Fun in Philadelphia
Whether your simply looking to spend the day in Philadelphia or a long weekend there are more options than time available to do them all. The greater Philly area is packed with events, attractions and so much to do that you just won’t be able to come once, you’ll have to come back to see it all.
If your coming for the weekend you’ll need a place to stay. The best places to stay are not necessarily the most expensive. Travelodge rooms start around $89 a night and are neat and clean but without the amenities available at pricier establishments. Wondering to do while your there is like asking what there is to see in Paris, simply too much to describe, thus the need to come back again for further visits. Liberty Bell Center; although the bell is retired from action, it is a lasting memory of America’s great creed of proclaiming Liberty. This Center includes the Liberty Bell, video presentations, Independence Hall and various other sites within the National Historical Park complex. Visiting Liberty Bell is free.
Philadelphia Museum of Art exhibits works found from the Middle Ages to Modern period. Older, more ancient works can be found at the University of Pennsylvania Museum. Normally admission is $12 but on Sunday’s you pay what you feel is fair and enjoy the Museum. Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia presents the Philadelphia Orchestra in Fairmount Park. They offer a concert series throughout the Summer, with lawn seating starting at $10. Enjoy world class artist, enjoy the music and bring your own dinner.
Speaking of dinner, when you think Philly you think Philly Cheesesteak, one of the best sandwiches can be found in south Philly at Tony Luke’s, for $6 you won’t leave hungry. If you enjoy organic and fresh then head over to Reading Terminal Market, a Philly-sized farmers market, home to over 100 Vendors that showcase the traditional fresh produce, meat and cheeses. However, the foreign also find a home here, Amish food, ethnic specialties, pottery and jewelry and much more.
With so much to see, do and experience in Philadelphia, one visit is never enough.
